"Light, Rhythm and Being" is a
collection of drawings and sculptures poignantly reflecting
the natural rhythm of life... at times a thing of beauty, at times a thing
of deep despair.
Jim Meskimen graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree
in Fine Art from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
During his years as an art student, he traveled many times to Galicia, Spain to study realist oil painting with the
world-renowned artist Miguel Arguello. Today, Jim creates artwork in a variety
of media, including oil paintings, computer art, lithographs and drawings.
Jim has an active career in the performing arts as well, working in theatre,
television and film.
Jule Rotenberg began her artistic career in modern dance,
earning a dance degree from Southern Methodist University.
She translates her intimate knowledge of dance and the human figure into
her portfolio of bronzes.
“Light, Rhythm and Being” is a collection of drawings and sculptures
poignantly reflecting the natural rhythm of life… at times a thing
of peaceful beauty, at times a thing of deep despair. “Meskimen conveys
the shades and shadows of life, literal and figurative, through his masterful
understanding of light. Rotenberg celebrates the human form with all its
energy, power and motion showcasing her skill as both a dancer and a bronze
artist.” says Mike Johnson, gallery director.
Jule Rotenberg concentrates on the female form for its
aesthetic, convenience and familiarity. She recently introduced a new “Birdman” series that will be
featured at the exhibit. The “Birdman” series captures the strength, beauty
and intrigue of the male form. “My goal is to imbue the cold solidity
of the metal with human spirit or life energy. To me, movement captures
this life energy and is my inspiration” says Rotenberg.
Jim Meskimen combines his classical training from
Arguello with his own multi-faceted experiences to create his powerful drawings.
His drawings are sometimes humorous, sometimes tranquil and sometimes disturbing…
but always thought provoking.
